Mary recently graduated with an MPhys in Physics from the University of Sheffield. Her masters project was in Biological Physics using atomic force microscopy to study the cell wall structure of bacterial cells. Mary’s interest in alternative energy sources stemmed from a third year project on solar heating systems. This led to a summer project reviewing the developments in spray coating perovskite photovoltaics, which led her to EPMM.
Mary is now in her first year of a PhD studying perovskite solar cells under the supervision of Prof. David Lidzey and in collaboration with Ossila. This project is part of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Polymers, Colloids and Soft Material – a PhD training programme at the University of Sheffield encouraging direct links between universities and industry.
Outside of photovoltaics, Mary enjoys watching films, hiking and admiring flamingos.
