Biography

David studied for a PhD in organic solar cells in the EPMM University of Sheffield between 2006 and 2010 where he investigated thin-film solar cells based on novel polymeric and molecular semiconductors, relating physical properties to device behaviour. After completing his PhD, David took on industry research and role at Cambridge Display Technology (CDT) focussed on the development of high-efficiency OLEDs for displays and lighting applications. In 2014, he returned to the EPMM group as a Research Associate in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). His research centres on evaluating the performance, and increasing the cell-active-area, of high performance spray-coated PSCs. This requires the application of ‘nozzleless’ ultrasonic spray-coating techniques to deposit functional films from solution.
